There is an airport in Dien Bien Phu with flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh twice daily.

Bus
Buses for Dien Bien Phu leave Hanoi from My Dinh station at 06:00 and 11:00 and cost 95,000 Dong.

Other
By far the best way to reach Dien Bien Phu if you have the time is under your own steam. You can approach Dien Bien Phu from either Tuan Giao or Lai Chau with both roads providing some magnificent scenery. To the south the road leads on to Laos, however the border is open only for Vietnamese and Lao citizens.
