Thanh Canh BarsCloudburst Bar is a low-budget late-night British/Canadian/Vietnamese-run bar in Saigon's backpacker central. At night-time, it is primarily geared towards sophisticated (alternative/indie/rock/dance) music lovers, but caters to a wide range of customers. Early on in the evening and the week, it tends to be dominated by locals and tourists, but late and at the weekend there is a much heavier expat presence. Whilst the presence of "bar girls" is seemingly ubiquitous in Saigon, this is definitely a female-friendly bar and, whilst not geared towards this, it also
EnigmaEnigma is a downtown winebar. As such it charges western prices (45-200,000vnd a glass) for wine, but provides western style comforts (clean loos, nice decor, zero hassle). MGMIn case you were wondering, the newest super café with a nightclub up top has no links to the Disney Corporation, but stands for “Maximum Greatest Music.” The music is loud, the décor is loud and the people posing in their designer sunglasses and sipping fluorescent drinks are loud. The prices and the furnishings are certainly “maximum” while “greatest” is a matter of opinion. But with tunes alternating between hip-hop, trance, R&B, pop and anything in between, at least one track will please your ears. Coffee starts at VND29,000 with fruit juices at VND39,000.
Q BarNot as good as its
original incarnation, but not bad regardless. Suffers a
certain synthetic cache from being right opposite the
Caravelle Hotel, and certainly reflects this in the
drink prices, but is nonetheless one of the most
thoughtfully laid out bars in the central area. Music
is acceptable and laid back. Allez BooThe premiere backpacker
bar in the main backpacker district is Allez Boo. It's
not terrible, but it is terribly predictable. Busy with
the just-off-the-bus-crowd; open air; bamboo; somewhat
overpriced; ninety-nine percent western except for
staff, pool hustlers and assorted hangers-on; playing
top forty western hits... Tropical Rainforest DiscothequeTropical Rainforest Disco in Ho Chi Minh City is one of the most prominent and happening destinations enhancing the night life of the city and simultaneously attracts a lot of youngsters who just love to chill out in this nightclub which also has the great advantage of being centrally located. Fortunately, the cover charges also allow you to indulge in the pleasures of savoring one free drink as well. If you are looking forward to have a loud and crazy nightlife then Central Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) is the right place to haunt on weekends and for after hours parties. This place also rules the roost as regards the fashion scenario of the town. People in Tropical Rainforest Disco mostly reflect the top most fashion statements prevalent in the city and also offering the idea of a highly glamorous and chaotic nightlife in Ho Chi Minh City. This booming disco-nightclub is grossly decorated and designed in sync with the Amazonian rainforest theme displaying the elements of a rocking and happening teen ambience infested with all the possibilities of things going rotten as few youngsters in the heat of the moment may indulge in troublesome acts. The ambience in here is so casually comfortable and homely that one can easily lie back and enjoy the grooves or they can just casually hit the dance floor as there is no particular code of dancing that one has to adhere to. Every one is welcome to behave as they want to and they can follow any code of conduct regarding their being in the disco. One of the salient
features of Ho Chi Minh’s nightlife is
inconsistency in the existence of the nightclubs and
discos and Tropical Rainforest Disco is the talk
of the town as it is now the hub of the hip and
happening crowd of the city and also represents the
genre of teenagers and the fashion icons in unison. In
the recent generation the city is once again fully
loaded with clubs and bars ranging between gloomy pubs
and simultaneously few up-market venues. The nightlife
of Ho Chi Minh City is mostly concentrated in the
central arena of the city in District 1, particularly in
the vicinities of Dong Khoi and Hai Ba Trung. While most
bars and discos have to shut down by midnight, many of
them tend to remain open till the early morning hours as
few tourists and guests continue partying. The nightclub
is mostly known to serve imported drinks which are
comparatively expensive than the local ones. While in Ho
Chi Minh City one mustn’t miss out on the opportunity to
go for a crazy joy ride at Tropical
